Project Scope

The New Street Public Realm Enhancement Project will transform the centre of Malahide through the pedestrianisation of New Street, creating a vibrant, accessible and people-focused public space.


Once complete, the project will deliver a high-quality public realm that supports local businesses, encourages active travel, and enhances the experience of residents and visitors while preserving the unique character of Malahide village.


Delivered by Maylim, the works include:

  • Pedestrianisation of New Street to create a safer and more welcoming environment.
  • Installation of high-quality paving and surface finishes throughout the public realm.
  • New landscaping and tree planting to enhance biodiversity and create a greener village centre.
  • Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) to improve rainwater management and support climate resilience.
  • New street furniture, including seating and cycle parking, to encourage people to spend more time in the area.
  • Upgraded public lighting to improve safety and enhance the character of the streetscape.
  • Improved accessibility measures to ensure the village centre is welcoming and inclusive for all users.
  • Utility diversions and infrastructure upgrades to support the long-term needs of the community.

Project Supervisor Construction Stage

As Project Supervisor Construction Stage, Maylim will deliver a comprehensive programme of public realm improvements, including upgraded paving, enhanced public lighting, new seating and cycle parking, outdoor dining areas, extensive landscaping and the planting of 37 new trees.


The project also incorporates sustainable urban drainage features and upgraded water and drainage infrastructure, helping to create a greener and more resilient village centre.
